Reduced hotspot risk, higher performance, lead-free construction, aesthetic appeal, and easy installation – Peakup Power's new lightweight photovoltaic modules deliver all these benefits without soldering ribbon connections. Developed with the expertise of Professor Martin Green, widely regarded as the father of modern photovoltaics, the next-generation Dandelion series offers high-performance, full-black lightweight modules for flat roofs, curved surfaces, facades – anywhere every kilogram counts, including listed buildings.
Design & Installation
The Dandelion series is as easy to install as it is impressive to look at. The matte surface is completely black as standard, with optional custom colors, while exhibiting lower power loss than previous solutions. The modules offer improved hotspot resistance and are optimized for low-light conditions. Adhesive mounting means no drilling is required – suitable for bitumen, foil, or facades, and on lightweight substructures.
Compared to glass modules, the Dandelion series is silicon-based, identical in size and power, but weighs only 30% as much. Peakup Power utilizes its proprietary conductive back sheet and conductive adhesive for cell connection, along with a self-developed insulating encapsulation composite (IEC) material to isolate positive and negative electrodes.
Testing & Certification
The Dandelion series has passed tests conducted by TÜV Nord and MPA Stuttgart, including anti-glare and Broof(t1) fire rating assessments. The modules have also been validated through numerous real-world installations.
PEC-BC – A Revolution in Lightweight PV
Peakup Power has advanced ultra-lightweight photovoltaics to the next level with innovative, high-efficiency back-contact solar cells and modules featuring planar electrical connection (PEC) technology. With the Dandelion series, the company has successfully adapted this technology for high-quality mass production. Professor Martin Green, Chief Scientist of Peakup Power, and his team of PhD-level researchers and development specialists – each with over 20 years of PV R&D experience – have been instrumental in this achievement.
The Secret Behind the Technology
The innovation lies in Peakup Power's PEC technology. Instead of traditional soldering ribbons, a flexible, textured copper foil connects the back-contact cells – eliminating shading, reducing hotspot risk, and creating a sleek, all-black surface.
"This is a unique technology, especially for mass production," says Professor Martin Green.
The result: higher efficiency, lead-free construction, easier installation – all at just 2.5 kg/m².
